MagicCon Extends Inclusivity with New Perspectives Grant Program

In a move to foster greater diversity and representation within the Magic: The Gathering community, Wizards of the Coast has announced the launch of the New Perspectives Grant Program. This exciting initiative aims to support the participation of enthusiasts from historically underrepresented groups at the upcoming MagicCon: Amsterdam event.

The program will provide a select group of 10 applicants with a comprehensive package that includes a Black Lotus VIP badge for the three-day MagicCon event, as well as a $2,000 stipend to cover travel, accommodations, and other expenses related to attending the convention.

The application process is now open, and interested parties can submit their entries from February 5, 2026, through 8:00 a.m. PT on February 19, 2026. The evaluation of these applications will be based on factors such as quality, originality, and the applicant's potential to contribute to making the Magic: The Gathering community more inclusive and accessible.

Wizards of the Coast is particularly encouraging applications from individuals who have been marginalized based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or military/veteran status. It's important to note that this information will not be shared with the team responsible for evaluating the applications.

To be eligible for the New Perspectives Grant, applicants must have a valid Wizards Account and agree to the Wizards of the Coast General Terms and MagicCon Terms of Service. Additionally, applicants must be at least 18 years old on the date of their submitted application.

There are a few key guidelines and restrictions that applicants should be aware of:

  • Hasbro, Wizards of the Coast, and their subsidiary/affiliate employees, as well as their immediate family members, are not eligible for this program.
  • Applicants from around the world are eligible for the New Perspectives Grant.
  • Grant recipients are expected to attend MagicCon: Amsterdam, participate in select recommended events, and complete a post-event survey.
  • Recipients are responsible for booking their own travel arrangements and meeting any entry requirements for Amsterdam.
  • The grants are not transferable and must be used in the year they are awarded.
  • Grant recipients may be required to execute and return a Declaration of Eligibility, and failure to do so could result in the grant being forfeited.
  • Wizards of the Coast reserves the right to withdraw grants if an applicant is deemed ineligible in their sole discretion.

This New Perspectives Grant Program represents a significant step forward in Wizards of the Coast's commitment to fostering a more inclusive and diverse Magic: The Gathering community. By providing support and opportunities for underrepresented enthusiasts, the company aims to create a more welcoming and inclusive environment for all players. Interested individuals are encouraged to apply for this life-changing opportunity and be a part of shaping the future of the game they love.
