Gear Up for Pro Tour Lorwyn Eclipsed: Your Viewer's Guide
The greatest minds of competitive Magic are gearing up for Pro Tour Lorwyn Eclipsed, the first Pro Tour of 2026. This action-packed event will feature an exciting Limited format with the Lorwyn Eclipsed Draft, as well as a fresh Standard environment. Tune in on January 30–February 1 to see who will emerge victorious and take home the coveted trophy!
What Is the Pro Tour?
The Pro Tour is the pinnacle of competitive Magic, where the best players from around the world compete for a $500,000 prize pool, invitations, and points to qualify for the annual Magic World Championship. Competitors at Pro Tour Lorwyn Eclipsed will receive a non-foil Tamiyo, Inquisitive Student promo card, and the Top 32 players will also receive traditional foil copies of this promo.
Competitors who finish the event with 30 or more match points will be invited to Pro Tour Secrets of Strixhaven at MagicCon: Las Vegas from May 1–3, 2026. The Pro Tour Champion will win $50,000, and all players will receive at least $500 regardless of their final placement.
Where and When Can I Watch the Pro Tour?
Pro Tour Lorwyn Eclipsed will take place in Richmond, Virginia, USA, on January 30–February 1. The event will be streamed live on twitch.tv/magic and youtube.com/@Play_MTG, with coverage starting at 8 a.m. PT (11 a.m. ET/1 a.m. JST on January 31 and February 1) on Friday and Saturday, and at 7 a.m. PT (10 a.m. ET/12 a.m. JST on February 2) on Sunday.
Who Are the Players to Watch at Pro Tour Lorwyn Eclipsed?
The field for Pro Tour Lorwyn Eclipsed is stacked with top-level talent. All four 2025 champions will be in attendance, including Matt Nass, Ken Yukuhiro, Michael Plummer, and Seth Manfield. Other players to watch include former World Champion Nathan Steuer, Innistrad Championship winner Yuuki Ichikawa, and Spotlight Series champions Alexey Paulot, Alex MacIsaac, and Brennan Roy.
Returning players with strong finishes in previous Pro Tours include Andrew Elenbogen, Luis Salvatto, Dom Harvey, and Piotr Glogowski. Additionally, Eli Kassis and Javier Dominguez, the last two players to reach Day Two in every major tabletop event for the last three years, will be competing.
What Are the Key Teams of Pro Tour Lorwyn Eclipsed?
The testing teams are a crucial part of the Pro Tour story, and the Big Four teams of 2025 are expected to be strong contenders once again. TCGplayer, Handshake Moxfield, Moriyama Japan, and Cosmos Heavy Play all had great success last year, supplying three of the four season winners and half the World Championship Top 8.
TCGplayer features a Hall of Fame-heavy roster, including Reid Duke, Seth Manfield, Gabriel Nassif, and Paul Rietzl. Handshake Moxfield has Eli Kassis and Simon Nielsen, the latter of whom won a recent Spotlight event. Moriyama Japan boasts a majority of Japan's top players, including newly crowned Player of the Year Ken Yukuhiro. Cosmos Heavy Play has a deep squad led by Anthony Lee, with talent like Ian Robb, Javier Dominguez, and Luis Salvatto.
A new French-speaking collective headlined by Jean-Emmanuel Depraz, with Hall of Famer Patrick Chapin, is also an interesting team to watch.
Lorwyn Eclipsed Draft Overview
The Lorwyn Eclipsed Draft format features five typal archetypes, each focused on a particular creature type, as well as five non-typal archetypes for the other color pairs. The typal archetypes include goblins, elementals, boggarts, flamekin, and treefolk, each united by a shared mechanical theme.
The non-typal archetypes have hybrid uncommon cards that support their respective draft strategies, which can also appear in off-color decks.
