Free MTG Draft Simulator: Practice Booster Draft Against AI
Booster draft is one of Magic: The Gathering's most skill-intensive formats. You open packs, pick one card at a time, and build a 40-card deck on the fly. Every pick is a decision: do you take the powerful rare or the removal spell your deck needs? The only way to get better at drafting is practice — and that's exactly what our free draft simulator is built for.
MTG Picker's draft simulator lets you practice drafting against 7 AI opponents in a full 8-player pod, completely free. No account required, no downloads, no ads. Just pick your set and start drafting.
How It Works
The simulator follows the official Play Booster draft format:
- 3 packs of 14 cards each
- 8-player pod — you plus 7 AI drafters
- Pick one card per pack rotation, then pass the rest
- Packs alternate direction — left, right, left (just like paper draft)
- Deck building phase after all picks, with mana curve stats and basic lands

The AI bots make realistic picks based on card rarity, color commitment, and creature preference. They won't just take rares blindly — they build coherent decks, which means the signals you read during the draft are meaningful practice for real events.
Supported Sets
The simulator supports 28+ sets spanning five years of Magic, including:
- 2026: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Lorwyn Eclipsed, Secrets of Strixhaven
- 2025: Final Fantasy, Tarkir: Dragonstorm, Aetherdrift, Edge of Eternities
- 2024: Duskmourn: House of Horror, Bloomburrow, Modern Horizons 3, Outlaws of Thunder Junction
- 2023: Lord of the Rings, March of the Machine, Wilds of Eldraine
- 2021-2022: The Brothers' War, Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty, Strixhaven, Kaldheim, and more
Each set uses real card data from Scryfall with accurate rarity distributions in every pack.

Why Practice Drafting?
Draft rewards a unique combination of skills that constructed formats don't test:
- Card evaluation — knowing which cards are good in Limited vs. constructed
- Signal reading — figuring out what colors are open based on what's passed to you
- Archetype awareness — understanding the synergies each set offers
- Discipline — staying in your lane instead of chasing every rare
Our draft tier lists rate every card from S to F tier for each set, so you can study the card rankings before you draft. Combine the tier list with simulator practice and you'll see real improvement at your local game store or on Arena.

After the Draft: Build Your Deck
Once you've made all 42 picks across 3 packs, the simulator transitions to a full deck building interface. You'll see your entire card pool organized by color and type, with tools to:
- Filter by color, type, and mana cost
- Track your mana curve and creature count
- Add basic lands with one click
- View deck statistics (average CMC, type breakdown)
The target is 40 cards — typically 23 spells and 17 lands. The interface helps you cut down to the right number and build a balanced deck.
