Multiverse Reforged Upgrade Guide: Making Jace's Polymorph Consistent
Multiverse Reforged is the Reality Fracture Commander deck (release date: October 2, 2026), led by Jace, Multiverse Architect, a four-color (white, blue, black, red) planeswalker commander. The plan is polymorph: make cheap creature tokens with cards like Secure the Wastes, Martial Coup and Elspeth, Sun's Champion, then trade them in for the big creatures in your library. Jace's −3 exiles a creature or planeswalker you control and reveals cards until a creature or planeswalker hits the battlefield; Mass Polymorph, Synthetic Destiny and Proteus Staff do the same across the board.

The precon has plenty of tokens and a strong mana base, but reviewers agree on two weaknesses. First, it has very few polymorph effects besides the commander, so when Jace dies the deck stalls. Second, not every creature it reveals is worth it: a 6-mana 3/5 is a bad outcome when the same effect could have hit Archon of Cruelty. The upgrades below attack both problems. They add more ways to polymorph, protect and reuse Jace, and swap weak hits for real bombs.
The golden rule: every cheap creature you add is a possible whiff when you polymorph. Only the few that pay for that risk make the list.
Budget Tier (~$10 total)
These cheap changes double the number of polymorph effects and give Jace some protection. Most of them cost less than a dollar.

Cards to Add:
- Identity Echo (~$0.55) - Red enchantment from Reality Fracture that copies Jace's −3 as a repeatable ability: for {3}{R}, exile a creature or planeswalker you control and reveal until a creature or planeswalker hits the battlefield. Once per turn at sorcery speed, and it doesn't cost Jace a single loyalty counter.
- Transmogrify (~$0.39) - The classic red polymorph. Exile one of your Soldier or Spirit tokens and it turns into the next creature in your library. Four mana for an Archon of Cruelty is a very good rate.
- Polymorph (~$1.41) - The original blue version: destroy your own token and reveal until you hit a creature. Same job as Transmogrify, in the colour the deck has most of.
- Reweave (~$0.56) - An instant-speed polymorph. Sacrifice a token in response to removal or at the end of an opponent's turn and reveal until you find a creature card.
- Divergent Transformations (~$0.51) - Two polymorphs in one card, and undaunted makes it cheaper in multiplayer (four mana at a four-player table). Instant speed, so you can do it at the end of the turn before yours.
- Felidar Guardian (~$1.57) - Blink Jace after using his −3. He comes back as a new object with fresh loyalty and can activate again the same turn: two polymorphs from one Jace. The one cheap creature worth the risk of being revealed.
- Deification (~$0.36) - Name Jace: he gets hexproof, and while you control a creature, damage can't take away his last loyalty counter. A two-mana enchantment that keeps your commander alive through combat.
- Karn's Bastion (~$2.44) - Replaces Path of Ancestry. A colourless land that proliferates for {4}, which means one more loyalty counter on Jace every turn you have spare mana.
- Tezzeret's Gambit (~$0.24) - Draw two and proliferate. You can pay 2 life for the Phyrexian mana, so it costs three generic in a pinch.
- Swiftfoot Boots (~$2.00) - Hexproof for whatever bomb you just revealed. Polymorph decks lose to a single Swords to Plowshares on their best creature; this stops that.

Cards to Cut: Plan for All Outcomes, Brainsurge, Fact or Fiction, Teferi's Reproach, Path of Ancestry, Fellwar Stone, Dack Fayden, Helping Hand, Ginger, Queen of Sweets, Tamiyo, Upriser Crowned, Venser, Fervent Forger.
Why these cuts: Plan for All Outcomes only empowers a Jace token, not your commander. Brainsurge, Fact or Fiction and Teferi's Reproach are fine cards that don't advance the plan. Dack Fayden gives your best creatures to your opponents. Ginger, Tamiyo and Venser are 6-mana creatures that are poor results for a polymorph.
Mid-Range Tier (~$38 total)
This is where the deck gets consistent. You add ways to activate Jace more than once per turn and swap mediocre hits for creatures that end games.

Cards to Add:
- Spark Double (~$11.59) - Copy Jace. The copy isn't legendary and enters with an extra loyalty counter, so you now have two Jaces and two −3 activations per turn.
- Oath of Teferi (~$1.48) - Activate each planeswalker's loyalty abilities twice per turn: +1 for cards, then −3 for a polymorph, or two −3s in one turn. Its enter trigger can also blink Jace to reset his loyalty.
- Aminatou, the Fateshifter (~$3.38) - Her −1 blinks Jace, just like Felidar Guardian, but she stays on the board and does it every turn. Her +1 sets up the top of your library before a polymorph.
- Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur (~$12.94) - Ten mana is a lot to cast, but nothing to polymorph into. Drawing seven cards at every end step is a huge hit off Jace.
- Hoarding Broodlord (~$4.29) - A tutor with wings. Convoke lets your tokens help cast it, and when it enters you exile the best card left in your library to play later.
- Triplicate Titan (~$1.29) - A 9/9 flying, vigilance, trample body. If an opponent kills it, it leaves three 3/3 Golems behind, which is three more tokens to polymorph.
- Phyrexian Triniform (~$1.55) - Same idea as Triplicate Titan, cheaper: when it dies you get three 3/3s. Note that Jace and Mass Polymorph exile, so the death trigger is insurance against opponents, not part of your own loop.
- Vraska, Betrayal's Sting (~$1.35) - Her 0 draws a card and proliferates every turn, and the −2 turns an opponent's best creature into a Treasure. Also a planeswalker, which counts as a hit for Jace's −3.

Cards to Cut: Omnath, Locus of the Void, Jhoira, Weatherlight Corsair, Niv-Mizzet, Ghost Counsel, Occult Epiphany, Currency Converter, Cursed Mirror, Brainstorm, Rakdos Signet.
Omnath, Jhoira and Niv-Mizzet, Ghost Counsel are the weakest creatures left in the library, so cutting them raises the average quality of every hit. Occult Epiphany, Currency Converter, Cursed Mirror and Brainstorm are low-impact filler. With Karn's Bastion and Vraska now in the deck, you can afford to lose Rakdos Signet.
High-End Tier (~$142 total)
If you want the deck at full power, put the best polymorph targets in Magic into the library and give Jace ways to activate three times a turn.

Cards to Add:
- Avacyn, Angel of Hope (~$30.05) - An eight-mana dream hit: every other permanent you control, Jace included, becomes indestructible. Board wipes stop being your problem.
- Consecrated Sphinx (~$33.68) - Every time an opponent draws, you may draw two. It is a strong six-drop when cast and an absurd card to reveal for free.
- Void Winnower (~$21.79) - Opponents can't cast spells with even mana values, which shuts off most of their removal and wraths. It is colourless, so it fits any version of the deck.
- Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite (~$20.91) - Your tokens get +2/+2 and the opponents' creatures get −2/−2. Against token decks it is a one-sided board wipe that stays on the battlefield.
- Astral Dragon (~$20.38) - Enters and makes two 3/3 flying Dragon copies of one of your noncreature permanents, such as a mana rock or Karn's Bastion. That's two more creature tokens to exile with Jace.
- The Chain Veil (~$7.96) - For {4} and a tap, every planeswalker you control activates again. With Oath of Teferi, Jace can polymorph three times in a single turn.
- Warleader's Call (~$7.48) - Anthem plus a ping: each creature that enters deals 1 damage to every opponent. Martial Coup for seven is now fourteen damage at a four-player table.

Cards to Cut: Akroma, Angel of Fury, Fatehold Charm, Talisman of Dominance, Izzet Signet, Sunfall, Staff of the Storyteller, Whirlwind of Thought.
Akroma, Angel of Fury is the weakest hit once Elesh Norn and Avacyn are in. Sunfall exiles your own creatures too, which works against a deck full of bombs. Fatehold Charm, Staff of the Storyteller and Whirlwind of Thought are replaced by cards that win the game on their own. The two Talismans make room for the new top end.
Final Tips
Before adding anything, count the creatures in your library that you would be unhappy to reveal. Every cut from that list makes every polymorph better, including Mass Polymorph and Synthetic Destiny, which put several creatures onto the battlefield at once. Keep the creature count low and the curve high, and keep 12 to 15 token makers so you always have fodder.
Protect Jace first (Deification, Swiftfoot Boots) and reuse him second (Felidar Guardian, Oath of Teferi, Spark Double). A Jace that survives to activate −3 twice is worth more than any single creature you could add. Prices are from Scryfall at the time of writing (September 2026) and will move after release.
